About this work

Description

Transmission electron micrograph showing an unusual cell in the corneal stroma. It has a highly irregular nucleus, very swollen rough endoplasmic reticulum and the cell surface shows extensive membrane activity. This cell is sitting in apparently normal lamellae with intact collagen fibrils although it is adjacent to an area of corneal degeneration. This cell is approximately 12 microns long.
