    knew not certainly that the eggs were fructified, and, at all events, would not warrant them to produce males; even when hatched, they would require considerable attention and training before they would become singers. To the pedant this appeared hazardous; and he went home, saying he would rather keep his dead nightingale. This was acting conservatively; but was it judicious?
