Description

Photomacrograph of the head of a bee in the genus Anthophora. Two large compound eyes (for accurate perception of movement), one of two antennae, the bee's tongue and pollen grains attached to hairs on the bee's head are visible here. Bees are important pollinators and play a crucial role in maintaining our environment, promoting the growth of crops and flowers many of which directly impact on our own health and wellbeing.
