The war within.

This programme is one of a series presented by Lynne Faulds-Wood about diseases which exclusively or especially threaten women. The subject here is lupus, a disorder of the immune system which can have a devastating lifelong effect on a woman's health and on her ability to bear children. Lupus is not uncommon but in Britain, unlike the U.S., there is little public awareness of the disease, and research is sparsely funded. The disease can be controlled but so far there is no cure.
