About this work

Description

Cerebral malaria: histopathology This is a high power microscopic view of a section of brain from a patient with cerebral malaria. It shows a Dürck granuloma. A collection of microglial cells (brain macrophages) is arranged around a capillary. The macrophages have been phagocytosing degenerate myelin following an ischaemic lesion caused by malaria. H&E stain.
