Notes

One of three large prints of the whole human figure by Antonio Cattani after Ercole Lelli, 1780-1781. Two of them show the écorché figures carved in wood (1734) which stand on either side of the professor's chair in the anatomy theatre of the Archiginnasio at Bologna: one print (1780) shows the front view (on the left of the chair), and the present print (1781) shows the back view (on the right of the chair). The third print (Wellcome Library no. 47218i) shows an actual skeleton with the muscles modelled in wax, created by Lelli with Giovanni Manzolini between 1742 and 1746 (Kornell, loc. cit.)
