About this work

Description

Coligny was a leader of the Huguenots during the French Wars of Religion till he was assassinated in the Massacre of Saint Bartholomew, 1572. He was shot but not killed by the Guise faction and then wounded in his bed by François, Duc de Guise, and thrown out of the window on to the street. The mob hanged him on a gibbet
