Description
This film covers patterns of diagnosis and treatment, identification of the causative organisms and discussion on presenting symptoms. It starts with a series of dramatised sequences illustrating some of the pioneers of gynaecology; Alfred François Donné who discovered the bacteria trichomonas vaginalis; David Haussmann in Germany who disputed this; Ottomar Hahne / Heinne (?); Joseph B. DeLee was the first American physician to write on the subject (there is archive footage of him speaking). J. P. Greenhill, contributor to this film speaks about his research to the camera. Thereafter, the film focuses on the physiology, pathology of the vagina with the aid of high quality medical animation. A number of studies are cited. There is graphic clinical footage of the vagina and vaginal area including vagina discharges (the patient is prone and invisible on a hospital bed). Vaginal treatment is demonstrated; how patients can self douches, swabbing and other treatments.
