Comparing these two columns it is obvious that, while there is a more or less regular decrease in the ratio of blood volume to body weight, as the animals increase in weight, no such periodical change in the blood constant, k, takes place ; the variations being only such as are caused by differences in the individual experiments, depending upon individual differences, experimental errors, the difficulty of getting an absolutely correct body weight, etc. It is thus found that the average blood constant, k, is 1'58 for males and females taken together, and the average figure representing the blood as percentage of the body weight is 4 '92. Whilst the greatest variation from the average value of k is 12*6 percent., the greatest individual variation from the average percentage is 43’5 per cent.
