File consists of correspondence with people who have surnames from Langley to Whiteley, related to the seminar on, "Beyond the Asylum: Anti-psychiatry and Care in the Community", which was held at the Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine at UCL on 18 February 2003. The seminar was part of the Wellcome Witnesses to Twentieth Century Medicine meetings also known as the Witness Seminars. Unlike most other seminars, the transcript of this seminar was not published.

Details of the seminar correspondence, primarily between the chair (Professor Hugh Freeman), organisers of the meeting (Dr Mark Jackson and Dr Daphne Christie), and others include:

Detailed information for the seminar, commentary on the transcripts and feedback on the meeting from participants. Documents include; a copy of Dr Gordon Langley's paper for the seminar titled, "Inquiries in the Seventies"; and a copy of Dr Henry Rollin's paper for the seminar titled, "Physical Methods of Treatment in Psychiatry or Three Tears for Psychiatry".

Papers provided by Dr Langley including; "The Management of the Mental Health Services" by J. Hampden Inekip Q.C. from a talk to the Royal College of Psychiatrists presented on 23 April 1977; a series of slides titled, "The Rise and fall of Exe Vale Hospital"; a copy of the article, G.E. Langley, "It May be Community but is it Comprehensive: A Wrong Question?", The Bulletin of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, vol.7 no.4, April 1983; a copy of the article, G.E.
