About this work

Description

"We have mentioned the Sassoon "General" Hospital at Poona, a merit of which, as likewise of the Elphinstone General Hospital at Bombay, is the equal admission of afflicted persons of all classes, races, and religions. An Illustration of this laudable spirit of true charity, which seems to belong to the Good Jew, as well as to the Good Samaritan and the Good Christian, is presented in our artist's second sketch. It shows the medical and surgical gentlemen, in the out-patients' ward, or dispensary, attending freely to all, Hindoo or Mohammedan, or of whatever creed or nation, who come to seek the help of beneficent European science."—Illustrated London news, loc. cit.
