Acquisition note
A Radio Three programme with the above title on the origins of the National Health Service was compiled by Michael Neve, Lecturer in the History of Medicine, University College London/Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine, and broadcast on 27th August 1982. He subsequently presented a tape of the programme itself and the recorded interviews upon which the programme was based to the Contemporary Medical Archives Centre.
Biographical note
The individuals interviewed included politicians, civil servants, doctors of varying political persuasions (some from the era when the NHS was introduced and some currently practising), social scientists and historians.

Copyright in the interviews has been assigned to CMAC apart from Dr Wand and Lord Fenner Brockway. The BBC retains a copyright interest in the programme compiled from them and the recording of Aneurin Bevan.
