Description
Parts 3-8 of an 8 part series of social-historical documentaries on woman's changing role in modern British society. Includes much material of medical-historical interest. "Part 5: Just a Girl" The high mortality of the First World War brought women into public life, but in subsequent years they still had to contend with the expectation that they would occupy an exclusively domestic role. Shows stereotyped images of women's destiny and examines the efforts of some educationalists to give girls a broader view of their future. Includes the 1970s Equal Pay Act, the Women's Aid campaign, the Sex Discrimination Act and rise and disintegration to the women's movement.
