About this work
Description
Rosa Monckton, disability rights campaigner, looks at the kind of hate crimes that people with learning disabilities face. Rosa's daughter, Domenica, has Down's syndrome and Rosa wonders what life will be like for her when she and her husband are no longer around to protect her against some of society's negative responses to learning disability. Rosa meets individuals and families who have been the victims of abuse and torment because they have a disability. She spends a lot of time with one man, Christopher, as he struggles to live independently as a respected and useful member of society.
