About this work

Description

Bible. N.T. Matthew 2. The king on the left, standing by a camel, holds up a crown to the sun. None of the kings is black (often in Christian iconography Balthasar represents the African continent), although one of the slaves (to the left of the wooden beam) appears so. The wooden structure is perhaps intended to be reminiscent of the cross
