    On tlie 10th April, 1847, the Agreement between the County and City was signed, by which it was concluded that there should be a Committee of 15 Visitors, 11 to be elected by the County and 4 by the City. At the same time it was resolved that the most eligible site offered for the building was the White Chimneys Farm, at Powick, for the purchase of which negociations were entered upon, and ultimately that and other lands adjacent, containing together 45 acres, 3 roods, and 3 perches, were purchased. This situation was at once the best offered, and, as the Committee considered, the very best that could be selected, not only on account of its proximity to Worcester, and a good turnpike road from thence to Malvern, but for its extreme cheerfulness and beauty, being also free from footpaths, in a retired position, and not in view of any residence to which such a building could be objectionable. On the 24th July, 1847, plans were advertised for, with the offer of premiums of fifty pounds, thirty pounds, and twenty pounds, for the first, second, and third best designs, such designs to be delivered by the 1st October following. Twenty-seven designs were sent in, and after carefully arranging them for inspection and holding several meetings your Committee considered that of Messrs. Hamilton and Medland, of Gloucester, entitled to the premium of fifty pounds; that of Mr. F. J. Francis, 2, Cork-street, Burlington- gardens, London, to the premium of thirty pounds; and that of Mr. Markham, of 10, Buckingham-street, Adelphi, London, to the premium of twenty pounds, and which premiums were
