    EDINBURGH SLAUGHTER-HOUSES. RULES, REGULATIONS, ORDERS, AND BYE-LAWS. MADE AND CONFIRMED IN TERMS OF “THE EDINBURGH SLAUGHTER HOUSES ACT, 1850.” 1. The Booths, other than those allotted for common use, shall, from time to time, he allocated by the City Chamber- lain, by whom the powers committed to the Magistrates and Council by Section 19th of the Act shall be exercised, subject to the control of the Market Committee of the Town Council when requisite. 2. The rents being payable half-yearly at Whitsunday and Martinmas in advance, those Fleshers who shall not pay their rents on or before 15th May or 11th November respectively, shall be held to have renounced possession, and the pre- mises may be taken immediate possession of by the City Chamberlain. 3. When a Flesher shall desire to renounce his interest in a Booth between terms, he shall inform the City Chamberlain, who shall pay over to him whatever rent shall be received till next term from any Flesher to whom he may allocate the Booth, or part of a Booth, so vacated. 4. In the event of a Flesher ceasing to slaughter in his Booth during three successive weeks (the month of August excepted) without a satisfactory explanation, of which the City Chamberlain shall be sole judge, he shall be held to have renounced his interest therein, and the premises may be taken immediate possession of by the Chamberlain, he paying over the rent as provided for by the immediately preceding rule.
