Official memoranda from the organisers stated that 'the Exhibition of 1937 is devoted to the arts and industries of modern life', with a 'Palais de la Decouverte' devoted to the display of exhibits related to scientific research work. The Palais was divided into sections relating to biology, chemistry, physics, medicine and surgery
