Description

Black and white photograph of a Cinchona plantation in Lembang, Central Java, one of the original photographs by Professor A. Tschirch, 1888. The original photograph was lent by Professor A. Tschirch (of the Pharmaceutical Institute of the University of Berne) for Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930, an exhibition hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930. The photograph is possibly listed as exhibit no. 469 in the souvenir catalogue. The item is not held by Wellcome Collection.
