    SHOPS ACT, 1934. The shops in the area are reasonably provided with sanitary accommodation as required by the above Acts. Routine inspections have not been carried out during the period under review, but many inspections were made and improvements carried out. It is proposed to make a survey of all the shops in the area when the time is opportune, paying particular attention to health and comfort of the shopworker and sanitary accommodation. OFFICES—PUBLIC HEALTH ACT, 1936. The offices in the area are, for the most part, of a modern character, and mostly comply with the requirements of the Act. Seine inspections were carried out. MOVEABLE DWELLINGS AND CAMPING SITES. There are no licensed camping sites in the area, but two camping sites have been used during the period. In addition, there are several small sites in the area which have been used for caravans and other moveable dwellings. These sites are regularly inspected, and any nuisances arising are dealt with. It was found, upon inspection, that 11 sites were being used in the district. Summary (Mid-Summer, 1945). No. of Caravans permanently occupied . 13 No. of Caravans—holiday use only. Ill 124 No. of persons permanently living in caravans ... 22 No. of persons—holiday use only (estimated at 3 per caravan). .. 333 355 The Council have considered the position in regard to Camping Sites and are securing improvements on two sites, with a view to securing proper control over them, and the elimination of sites not suitable as camping sites. It is anticipated that a great improve¬ ment will take place in 1946. Caravan and Camping Sites are controlled in this area by a local Act—Thornton Cleveleys Improvement Act, 1936, Section 41. SMOKE ABATEMENT. No action has been taken during the war years and no obser¬ vations have been made. Little trouble, however, is experienced in the area.
