    Jacksons Medicinal Compound. wooden vessel, and add of the rectified spirit thirty gallons, of the compound spirit of saffron twelve gallons, of the compound extract of genseng root ten pounds, of fair water thirty-six gallons; stir all well together, and infuse forty days in a warm place, and if the tincture be not of a proper colour, 5 add as much of the shavings of red saunders as will procure it; strain first through flannell, and then through paper for use. When this tincture is strained off, add forty gallons of ale to the ingredients, and infuse forty days, as before, then strain, and put it up in proper casks for use. The dose of the first tincture is two teaspoonfulls or more in a glass of wine 10 or any liquor; the dose of the last is one large spoonfull in half a pint of warm ale. In witness whereof, I, the said Humphry Jackson, have to this present Instrument sett my hand and seal, this Fourth day of July, in the twenty-seventh year of the reign of His Majesty King George the 15 Second, and in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and fifty-three. Signed and sealed in the presence of Tho9 Lowes. 20 Albany Wallis, AND BE IT REMEMBRED, that on the aforesaid Fourth day of July, in the year above written, the aforesaid Humphry Jackson came before the said Lord the King in His Chancery, and acknowledged the above Instrument, and all and every thing therein contained and specified, in form above written. And 25 also the Instrument aforesaid was stampt according to the tenor of the Statute made in the sixth year of the reign of the late King and Queen William and Mary of England, and so forth.
