About this work

Description

The NHS hands out 750 million prescriptions a year and GP prescribing costs have doubled in the last 10 years. Subsequently, GPs are now under pressure to cut prescription costs, but how will this affect patient care? Mark Porter follows the journey of an NHS prescription through the system and finds out that as many as 1 in 5 are never redeemed, and half of those that are, are not properly taken, meaning that hundreds of millions of pounds are being wasted.
