About this work

Description

Close-up of short stem with ovate grey-green downy leaves and clusters of small white flowers around stem. Contains marrubiin (a labdane diterpene). It is known as a traditional medicinal for sore throat. Has also been used as a substitute for quinine in the treatment of malaria. Also contains vitamin C (30mg per 100g). Has been widely used in the manufacture of alcoholic spirits.
