The artist Hudson was the pupil of Robert Austin who also drew the activities of women in England in the Second World War (in his case members of the Women's Auxiliary Air Force) (David Buckman, Dictionary of artists in Britain since 1945, Bristol 1998, p. 89). She was given work by the War Artists' Advisory Committee (Buckman, op. cit. p. 620), presumably to draw the activities of the WVS
