About this work

Description

They are presumably pilgrims to the holy image of the Virgin of good counsel which from 1767 was in the church of Saint Blaise at Kinzweiler in North Rhine Westphalia. The two pilgrims point to a town with prominent churches (Kinzweiler?) on the far side of a river (the Rhine?)
