Subjects include: war damage in Arras, Amiens, Albert, Péronne, Béthune, Ypres, Somme; trenches, artillery, walking wounded, shells, relaxation, King George V in the trenches and at Péronne, a Red Cross Hospital in a ballroom, stretcher bearers, German prisoners of war ("Specimens of Kulture" [sic]), and contrasting photographs of "Briton" and "Boche"

Front paste down inscribed "R.P Humphreys 1918", assumed to be the name of the compiler. Information about the album was kindly supplied by Xanthe Pitt (daughter of Colin George Pitt who owned the album until his death in 2009)
Five loose photographs bear authorship stamp on the verso: "Ministry of information photographic bureau 10, 11, 12 Coventry Street, Piccadilly Circus, W.1. British official photographs. This photograph is crown copyright"
