The Research Defence Society is not an association of men of science or of medical men only. Its membership is drawn from all departments of public life, and includes representatives of every class of educated Englishmen and Englishwomen, many of whom have taken an active part in the prevention of cruelty to animals. This fact is in itself a remarkable protest against the attacks which have been made on those researches which the Society defends. The annual subscription is five shillings, to cover working expenses, but larger subscriptions and donations will be thank- fully received. Undergraduates and students of medicine are eligible for membership on payment of half-a-crown. There are also associates who pay one shilling. The Society publishes short quarterly reports, the subscription for these reports is one shilling annually. All members receive all the Society’s publications. Associates receive some of these publications. The Annual General Meeting of the Society is held in London in June. All communications should be addressed, in the first instance, to the Hon.
