Whole mount of a fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster) larva. Drosophila are commonly used in scientific research particularly in the field of developmental biology and genetics, as they have very uniform eye, hair and wing patterns, which are often disrupted due to genetic mutations. Width of image is 4.2 mm.
