It cannot be of practical utility to produce statistics of all the cases of transfusion recorded up to the present time; but it will probably be advantageous to select examples — some successful, others un- successful, and endeavour to show the causes of the results obtained—that some definite ideas may be derived therefrom as to the indications and most suitable methods for transfusion, and as these few I pages are written apart from the bias of pre-formed I opinion, the reasons pro and con will be impartially, I though perhaps imperfectly, set forward. i ( 1 « i 1 I 1 1 t j
