About this work

Description

Oliver (op. cit. fig. 108, p. 255) mentions a portrait of Adams by Healy dated 10 December 1845 in the Caisse Nationale des Monuments Historiques, Paris. The database Joconde (accessed 13 September 2010) lists a version by Healy commissioned by King Louis-Philippe for the Musée historique de Versailles in 1846 and painted in 1847 (Blérancourt, Musée national de la coopération franco-américaine). Healy also painted other versions listed by Oliver, but later than 1848, when this version is dated
