Written in an Italian semi-gothic hand in double column of 33 lines to a column. Capitals and headings in red. The first 4 ff. are by different and later 14th century hands.

12. Verso of fly leaf: Three lines of text crossed out

With four historiated initials in pen and wash, the first with marginal ornamentation:
Fol. 5 Letter C, showing a winged and crowned figure, who holds a book, descending upon a Master with his two pupils.
Fol. 49 Letter O, a crowned and seated personage (probably the Emperor Frederic II) receiving a book held by a Master accompanied by a pupil, both are kneeling.
Fol. 57v Letter R, the Master demonstrates anotomy on a nude male figure reclining on a couch: above, the crowned and winged personage.

Physical description

1 volume 84 ll. + I 1. folio. 30 1/2 x 22 cm. The extra leaf noted above is a vellum fly-leaf at the end. Early 16th century calf binding over wooden boards, with stamped arabesque decorations. All metal bosses and clasps wanting.
