Description

Contemporary copy of a report [to Lord Melville?] on the plague at Malta in 1813. [Anon.] Report on the [Yellow] fever epidemic at Gibraltar in 1804. The second item contains 'Mr. Pym's account ... transmitted by a friend' [Sir William Pym [1772-1861] Inspector General of Army Hospitals, 1816], and Mr. Kidson's account [i.e. John Kidston, M.D., who was Deputy Inspector of Army Hospitals in 1816 and died in 1834]. Produced in Droxford.

Biographical note

The author was a naval surgeon, and was present at the battles of Cape St. Vincent, the Nile and Trafalgar. In 1810-1813 he was physician to the Mediterranean Fleet, and Physician-General to the Navy 1824 to 1841. [see the Dictionary of National Biography].
