Description

Colour card advertising Ayer's Ague Cure showing a swamp scene with a wooden shack, low boat on the water and a flamingo in the background. In a second panel in the bottom right corner an ailing alligator is given a bottle of the Ague Cure by two concerned -looking frogs. Malaria is described as being due to a "miasmatic poison which enters the blood through the lungs". The medicine was also supposed to cure chills, fever, dumb ague, chill fever, intermittent, remittent, bilious and typhoid fever and liver complaints.
