Description

SEM of a single poppy seed. The kidney-shaped seeds of the opium poppy are highly nutritious, having a range of culinary uses. The seeds of other poppy species are not consumed, although the plants are still grown for their flowers. False-coloured scanning electron micrograph; x 80; seed is approximately 1.2 mm in length.
