    bricated, along the facrum of the child round the nates to the pofterior fide of the thighs, till I reached the feet, brought them down; and the child not being very large, finifhed the delivery, as is ufual in preternatural prefentaiions: the child, contrary to all expectation, was born alive, and no uncommon circamftance attended the de- livery of the placenta ; the recovery of this patient was as remarkably good, as her cafe had proved preternaturally bad; for, on the eighth day after her delivery, fhe was able to carry a bafket of butter, on horfeback, to a market fome miles from her refidence: it is fomething extraordi- nary, that this woman has fince had two chil- dren ; one of which offered with the breech, and was delivered by the natural pains; and the other, with the knees, which required the affifi- ance of the hand.—mauriceau obferves, that if it be the back which prefents, it is impoffible the child fhould be born in that pofture, what pains fo ever the mother endures; and befides, the child having the body folded inwards, and almoft double, its bread and belly are fo prefTect.
