Biographical note

The Huggard Fund was was formed in Davos in 1913 in memory of Dr Huggard, one of the founders of the QAS. It made grants to poor invalids in Davos to meet exceptional expenditure, such as operations or special nursing care. The Mary Beck Trust Fund was formed in 1920 by Mr H.M. Beck in memory of his wife who died in Davos. It was used for similar purposes, but with preference being given to female patients. In 1936 the Council of the Queen Alexandra Sanatorium Fund took over management of both Funds and appointed a special committee to administer them.
