    Of the cases of Non-Pulmonary TUBERCULOSIS, 22—6 men, 2 women, 14 children—were treated in Past Fortune Sanatorium. Domiciliary Treatment. In the supervision of patients in their own homes no respon- sibility for (lie actual treatment rests with the Local Authority. This is provided by the Medical Practitioners. Assistance is given, however, in the way of extra nourishment (chiefly eggs, milk and butler), special medicines, splints and other apparatus to patients who are unable to provide these themselves. Several patients suffering from Ll'PUS or other forms of tuberculosis of the skin were granted their travelling expenses to enable them to attend regularly for “ Light Treatment” at the skin department of the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh. Venereal Diseases. There has been no addition to, or alteration of, the Scheme for the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases which applies to the whole County including Burghs. During the year 1927 the number of new cases attending the Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh, as out-door patients was 224—Ilia men anti 59 women and cliild- ten. this is an increase of 41 patients as compared with the Preceding yeai. the total attendances numbered Li,280 as com- pared with 14,540 last year. 1 here were 50 patients—24 men and 2(5 women and children— who received in-door treatment totalling 2,046 days, as compared with 21 patients and a total of 976 days in the preceding year. At the end of the year 200 patients from the County were still under treatment.
