A knight in armour apparently has a vision of (left) a woman dressed in protective clothing and holding a sword and a book, contrasted with (right) a woman in a flimsy dress holding flowers and a necklace. The former presumably represents duty, the latter pleasure. The painting is also called the dream of Scipio
