After many heated controversies, the reticular or network theory of neuron connections was finally rebutted by the beautiful demonstrations of the remarkable Spaniard Ramon y Cajal. From his studies from 1889 to 1904, 1907, he was able to furnish specific evidence to support the neuron doctrine which had been suggested by both His and Forel. (Garrison's History of Neurology, p. 168-169)
Translated into English by Purkiss and Fox in 1954
