Description
The pictures in the Cottonian MS. of Genesis [Otho B. vi]. Author's holograph MS. Illustrated with 20 plates pasted down, and cut up from the original two engraved copper-plates issued by the Antiquaries Society in 1749; and with 5 original pencil- and pen-drawings by Stukeley of Noah's Ark, 'Constellation of Noa', Abraham's Grove, etc. This famous 5th cent. Greek MS. was severely damaged in the fire at the Cottonian library in 1731. Signature of Stukeley inside the upper cover, and a note by him on the first (unnumbered) leaf '13. Aug. 1749. Martin Folkes Esq. LL.D. gave me the set of prints done by the Antiquarian Society ...' Lettered on the upper cover 'Liber Geneseos Graece.' Produced in Stamford.
