The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "An unidentified costume party group including central seated figure in mufti with apparent foot injury. The hastily improvised drag worn by three of the subjects would indicate a less well rescourced and organised concert party, possibly quite early in the war. French or Belgian. Sourced Brussels."
