About this work

Description

The boys are taunting a young man, who is reclining on the floor and leaning on a low table; one boy pulls a piece of string (?) from the man's mouth, another holds a calligraphy brush as if to write on the man's face, while a third points and laughs. The man's eyes appear to be closed and his robe is hitched up, possibly to suggest that he has been asleep (?)
