    (c) Candidates for admission must send to the Matron a written application, accompanied by a medical certificate that the Candidate is eligible according to the above conditions, and also by a satisfactory certificate, from at least one respectable person, of the position and good character of the applicant. The Matron shall, in answer to such application, give timely notice of the day and hour when the applicant can be received, if approved. Persons selected for admission must pay their own expenses to and from Ilkley, where they will be met with a conveyance at the Railway Station to take them to the Home. (<d) Admission to the Home is at the uniform charge of Twelve Shillings and Sixpence per week, payable in advance. This payment is to cover all charges, including a good substantial dietary. (e) Every Convalescent, On entering the Home, must bring one complete change of underclothing, a pair of boots or shoes adapted for outdoor wear, and a pair of slippers for indoor wear, and must also provide for the necessary washing of his or her articles of clothing. The site selected is noted for its healthfulness, and the Home is provided with heating and ventilating appliances so arranged as to render the atmosphere of the apartments suitable for delicate constitutions during the most inclement seasons. The Institution is open for the reception of Inmates during the whole of the year. The male and female Inmates are separately accommodated in different parts of the building, save that all meals are taken in common. A few of the sleeping rooms are fitted up for one person only, while some of them are arranged to accommodate two and some three persons, but with separate beds. There are commodious, cheerful sitting rooms, affording extensive views of the beautiful scenery of the district. Every requisite for comfort is supplied throughout the building, inner windows having been fixed in the sitting and dining rooms as a protection against stormy weather during the winter months. The grounds are well laid out, and they include a small court for tennis or bowls; there are charming walks in the neighbourhood ; and Bolton Abbey and Woods are within a distance of about six miles. One of the principal aims of the Founder was to make the Home, in all respects, as agreeable to the Inmates as though they were at an hotel or boarding-house, and to fix the charge at such a sum as should be just sufficient to cover actual cost, and yet make the inmates feel perfectly independent.
