About this work

Description

Human chromosomes from a patient with Hereditary Liability to Pressure Palsy. The chromosomes have been highlighted with fluorescent probes that bind to specific sequences of DNA. There is a deletion in chromosome 17 (see B0000306C). The chromosome 17 telomeres are green. A control cosmid probe (red) outside the PMP gene region is not deleted. Pressure palsy is a lesion of a spinal root or peripheral nerve resulting in from compression. Image by Dr John Crolla.
