Book of testimonials for Hector Gavin, Secretary of the General Board of Health from 1848, Medical Commissioner to the West Indies 1851-53, and Sanitary Commissioner in the Crimea 1855, with additional biographical material. Attached to the rear end papers are newscuttings relating to Gavin's death at Balaclava and to the Crimean Sanitary Commission.
