It is with great pleasure that I add my testimony in favour of Dr. Stoddart Barr’S candidature for the position of Extra-Dispensary Surgeon to the Western Infirmary, Glasgow. During the year 1905 he was my Clinical Assistant at the Golden Square Throat Hospital, where I had ample opportunities of observing the thoroughness of his general knowledge of Medicine and Surgery, as well as his intimate and practical acquaintance with the diseases peculiar to the Ear, Throat and Nose. It was a pleasure to work with Dr. Barr, because his travels abroad and his studies in the various European Clinics enabled him to take a broad and wholesome perspective of his work; at the same time he was well versed in all the technical details of the specialty. Dr. Stoddart Barr has already given proof of his ability and an earnest of future good work in the publication of important matters connected with Nose and Ear Diseases—vide “ Proceedings of the Otological Society of the United Kingdom.” One other and by no means unimportant claim is possessed by Dr. Stoddart Barr, viz., his good fellow- ship and the kindly consideration with which he treats his colleagues, be they juniors or seniors.
