I know my mind is too HONEST and independent to fit me for a Syco- phant or a Hypocrite. I have written without intending to offend any individual; but, fhould the gall'd jade wince, the fault will not be mine ; if Public Abuses exift, fuch are fair objeQs for in- veftigation. Satisfied that every Man, of every Clime, not prejudiced by education, or rendered favage by injuflice, is my Brother and Friend; earncftly hoping, that my Children may live in times when Dependance, Bigotry, and Poverty, fhall be lefs general; and when Titles or Birth, without Talents and Virtue, fhall be little ef- teemed ; and, hoping for the entire approbation of the honcft and liberal, in every department of our profeffion.
