![lobate being cloven before and lobate behind, septilo- bate, angular with from 3 to 7 angles, and sometimes nearly hastate. Petioles hispid. Slipulae subulate, hispid. Peduncles axillary, solitary, about as long as the corolla, pubescent; hairs crowded, slightly deflex. Calyx, outer with from 6 to 11 subulalo- linear phylla; inner from half as long again to thrice as long as the outer, sexfid and quinquefid, bursting to near the base on one side. Petals 6, oblongo- obovate, pale yellow, with a brownish purple blotch at the base; upper margin of the blotch obliquely rounded. Stamina as long as the calyx. Filaments the loose ends shorter than the antherae. Antherae on the outside from near the base to the end of the united filaments, about 20, roundish. Pistil longer than the stamina. Germen pyramidal, pubescent, quinquelocular; cells polyspermous. Styles 5, united below, purple at the end. Stigmata 5, oval, brownish purple. Obs. 6229.—Stem hispid. Leaves hispid, sexlobate and quinquelobate, crenate; lobes triangu- lar, acuminate; sinuses concave. Obs. 3485. Spe- cimen gathered by Broughton in Jamaica.—Leaves roundish, somewhat cuneiform at the base, quin- quangular. Seeds when rubbed of the scent of musk. Obs. 3485.
