About this work

Description

Histopathology of the colon This is a medium power view of colonic mucosa. There is oedema of the lamina propria. The goblet cells in the crypts are well preserved and full of mucin. Between the crypts there are many plasma cells and some polymorphs. No amoebae are visible in this field. H&E stain. This appearance is typical of an early amoebic lesion. Preservation of goblet cells is characteristic (unlike ulcerative colitis, where the goblet cells are destroyed).
