About this work

Description

Illustrated leaflet for Scott & Bowne's 'Scott's Emulsion' (of cod liver oil with hypophosphites and glycerine) which was supposed to cure colds, coughs, early stages of consumption, wasting diseases such as rickets and marasmus, anaemia, emaciation, and general nervous debility. The front has an illustration of a little girl dying in bed and a concerned mother talking to two thoughtful doctors. The back shows the seated mother holding the girl's hand - she is now in full health - with a poem describing how Scott's Emulsion has achieved this miracle.
